For this week's edition of the Sunday Art Review, I decided to feature the works of world famous glass artist Dale Chihuly. Chihuly revolutionized the art of hand blown glass, encouraging teams of glass artists, developing new shapes, seemingly challenging the laws of physics, and blending vibrant colors into his work. Dale's work is internationally known, with works in museums, public galleries in many cities, including well known pieces on display in major hotels such as the glass ceiling at The Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas. Dale has several styles of work, for today's post I have chosen to feature selections primarily from his "macchia" & "baskets" works. I've had the pleasure of meeting Dale several times here in Palm Springs at galleries and charitable events throughout the season. All of the photos in this series are from Dale Chihuly's site, or others around the web. If you live in the Palm Springs area, you can find his works at the Imago Galleries in Palm Desert, and on display at the Palm Springs Art Museum as well. Enjoy!
