This Sunday I have been invited as a special guest to attend the "Same Sex in The City: Wedding Show", geared primarily toward same-sex couples. As a reminder, this is not a paid post, and I make no apologies for this topic. As many of you know I generally avoid controversial topics for my blog. Admittedly I am a bit of an enigma to some. Consider that I use all of the following terms to describe me: Moderate-Conservative, Episcopalian, Gay, Business Executive, Wine Connoisseur, Eco-Friendly, Organic-Advocate, Society Writer, Raconteur and Ever-So-Modest. So why I am writing about an event that showcases gay wedding planning services? Well for two reasons: first, I believe in the right for all people to marry the person they love, and second, because this is my blog. Now that is out of the way, let me tell you more about Sunday's event. In a nutshell, it is an expo offering guests access to professional wedding planners with a variety of ideas around design, photography, catering, cake design, fashion, & travel plans. Let's face it, gay people usually have high disposable income and love a good party, so capitalism being what it is, the wedding planning industry has emerged with gay-friendly wedding planners. The event is being hosted by GBK Productions, a firm well known in Hollywood for its celebrity special events. GBK is also holding a drawing for a grand prize to win $10,000 in wedding services. For my local readers, the event is Sunday September 7th at the Parker Palm Springs Hotel. For more information please visit SameSexinTheCity or e-mail Carla for tickets. I am pleased to be attending as an invited guest and will probably write about the event again next week with some highlights. Happy Friday to you!
